About SkillsUSA South Carolina
SkillsUSA South Carolina is a state association of SkillsUSA, a national organization serving more than 375,000 high school and college students and professional members who are enrolled in training programs in technical, skilled, and service occupations, including health occupations.
SkillsUSA programs include local, state and national competitions in which students demonstrate occupational and leadership skills. At the annual national-level SkillsUSA Championships, more than 8,000 students compete in 100 occupational and leadership skill areas.
SkillsUSA programs also help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. SkillsUSA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training program” by the U.S. Department of Labor.
SkillsUSA’s Career Essentials Suite helps students develop the skills they need to make a smooth transition to the workforce or higher education. The program – available online – guides students through employability skill activities that are covered in SkillsUSA Frameworks.
